Fear & Parenting in Las Vegas

Family fun in Sin City.

I’m so excited I just may pee my pants

Well, there are a lot of reasons for me to lose control.

a) My dad’s still in ICU, but he’s off life support and doing well! My brother and sister are on their way to help transition him back to home care, which will hopefully happen next week. Thanks to everyone for their intercessions to the higher deity of their choice on my family’s behalf. We’re taking things one day at a time, but are glad for every day we get with him.

b) My new gig over at Nickelodeon’s Parents Connect is going really well. In fact, you could call it the sh*t. That is, if Doodle would ever actually do #2 consistently in the crapper instead of his diaper.

c) I’m going to see my four boyfriends tonight. Yes, it does take four men to make me happy. Well, these four men make me VERY happy.

And I’m SO happy that I’m giving away my entire SITScation swag bag (minus the item from Edenfantasys.com because, well, uh, you know, a girl has to keep something for herself) from last weekend. There is some pretty cool stuff in there for boys and girls of all ages, trust me.

Just enter a comment with your guess about which band member I’d most like to make my personal teddy bear. The correct answers will be entered into a random drawing. Get your entries in by midnight (pacific time) on Sun., Oct. 25. Want a second entry? Tweet/Plurk/Facebook the contest (e.g., Which U2 man does @fandpinlv want in her boots? Take a guess and win. http://tinyurl.com/ygnohep) and let me know you did in the comments. Need more entries? Give me the title of your favorite U2 tune.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Glad to hear that your father is doing better.

Enjoy the concert. They were here a few weeks ago and everyone raved about them. Be aware that they’re loud — I could hear them from four miles away.

  2. I’m glad your dad is doing better!

Now let’s see… who is your favorite? Bono seems too obvious, though I wouldn’t kick him out of *my* bed for eating crackers. You strike me as more of an Edge kind of girl, though.

Have fun at the concert – I’ve heard fabulous things about this tour.

  3. Oh, and my favorite U2 song? It used to be Sunday Bloody Sunday, but when we were in Joshua Tree this most recent time, we listened to The Joshua Tree over and over again in the car, so now I have all these happy associations with Where the Streets Have No Name.

Also, my husband saw U2 when they were just starting out, at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia. Capacity: 3,200. He says that was the greatest show he’s ever seen.

  4. Oh, and look for my Plurk. What? I don’t feel like working this morning. :)

  8. So glad to hear your Dad is doing better and I hope you enjoy your concert. You SO deserve to let your hair down after what you’ve been through this week.

I don’t need the swag, ‘cuz I got my own (including the Eden’s Fantasy goody, shhh), but if I had to guess I’d say the bearded cutie in the back. He looks kind of intense. Sorry, I don’t know all their names other than Bono.

  9. That’s the Edge. Thanks for your entry!

  10. a) So relieved to hear this. (Are you still planning on coming out next weekend?)

    b) So proud of you for this.

    c) So jealous of you for this.

If you have the same taste in men as I do I would then guess Larry Mullen.

    I tweeted this.

My all time favorite U2 song is Sweetest Thing. BUT NOTE … not the recent release of this song, but the original that was put on the B side of Where the Streets Have No Name. (Yes, I am that kind of U2 fan!)

  11. If it was me, I would say David Howell Evans aka The Edge. But I have a thing for guitar players. I hope you enjoy the concert. I would have loved to have gone to see them while they were here in Houston.

My favorite U2 song would have to be With or Without You or All I Want Is You.

Although I haven’t followed you much (thanks to @redlotusmama for pointing me your way) I am glad to hear that your dad is doing better.

  12. @ Red Lotus Mama – Great guesses and good luck! We’re still planning on making the trip. My brother should be here by then to help out. I warned Boo that if Grandpa gets worse or if Grandma needs me to stay, we may have to trick or treat at home and do Sea World again later. Fingers crossed.

@Kel – I can’t give you any hints about my favorite boy, but great song choice. It reminds me of good friends in high school who was stuck in a love triangle that would make Gossip Girls blush.

  13. Me thinks you might have a thing for drummers, so I’m going to go with the band’s founder, Larry Mullen Jr.

You soooo deserve to go to this concert. Enjoy every second!

  14. Um, Adam? (no idea here). For me it’s jumping Vertigo. Have fun.

  16. So glad to hear about your dad! Yay!

And those four men make ME very happy as well. If I was a bettin’ lady, I’d place my money on The Edge cuz he’s all sorts of hot and brooding and quiet and stuff. Enjoy the concert, lady!

    p.s. I tweeted!

    Comment by Wineplz | October 23, 2009

  17. I am so jealous you’re going to U2… I’ll put my bet on The Edge. Or Larry…

(My husband and I always joke about the band’s members… You’ve got Bono and The Edge with memorable names, and then “those other two” as my hubby refers to them.)

  18. So happy about your dad and about the job! And seriously, regarding the crapper, have you tried the ultimate, mega-awesome bribe? For Z, it was mini cupcakes, 1:1. Worked within three days.

  19. As a drummer, I have to say Larry is the guy to fill your boots.

You’ll have to post about the concert!! I really wanted to go, but wow did it sell out quickly.
