Go Blue. It’s not just for Smurfs anymore.

If you’re like me, you probably spent copious amounts of time on the couch watching the blonde, demure dominatrix that was Smurfette keep a village full of little blue men in line.

It was my generation’s answer to Snow White. Take a bunch of verically-challenged males and give them adjectives as first names and the same last name. Change out the wicked stepmother for a freaky wizard and his cat. Keep the forest and cute woodland creatures. Make the cottage into a mushroom village with polka-dotted curtains. Now you’ve got yourself a show you can really sink your teeth into. Right?
Ruh Roh.
The economy has cut the smurf herd down to three and forced them into some sort of hormone-induced growth therapy to make them larger than life.
Screw the ’shrooms. They’ve taken residence above the gondolas .
No more waiting around for Smurfette to cook for the fleet. They can get their own cereal.
It’s Vegas baby.
And now your kids can start their bond with the blue.

The Blue Man Group that is.
You see, they’re now doing a cool offer for Vegas locals and your kids.
Starting May 15, locals can take their kids (aged 3 to 12) to the show at the Veneitian free. All you have to do is purchase a regular-priced adult ticket. Be sure to give them the special code (KIDS FREE) at any Venetian or Palazzo box office or by calling 702.414.9001.
No liars and poseurs allowed. You’ll have to flash your Nevada ID when you pick up your tickets. Be warned, the tickets are subject to availability and there may be restictions related to holidays.
I saw the show a few weeks ago and had a blast. I didn’t bring Boo with me. Given that Snow White and the Smurfs freak her out, I didn’t think she’d be up to the in-person experience with the blue-faced freakshow. Maybe in a few years. However, if you’ve got kids in the 8-12 range, especially the ones who like to be silly and make a lot of noise (which is pretty much every kid, right?), this could be a great summer treat.

My husband would kill to see the blue man group. What a wonderful thing to do for those who live in there. I’m jealous and only six hours away.
We saw the Blue Man Group a couple years back. They were good! I’m not sure my 4 year old would like it but ya never know with him. My 2 year old on the other hand just might go crazy and love them. I can never tell with them.
That is really nice that they are doing that. They must be hurting for business. If they better represented themselves when they were out in public, might be a better way to attract people to come to the show. One of them use to come into the Starbuck’s that I work at and he was such a crazy, mean, and delusional customer that I would never want to go and see them, even if it the adult ticket was free as well. Now if I was in Chicago, yes I would go, but not here in Las Vegas.
