Fear & Parenting in Las Vegas

Family fun in Sin City.

Counting My Blessings: I can be married.

I have known Homer for more than lf my life and I have had the pleasure, pain, happiness, frustration, and joy of being his wife more nearly nine years. He is like no other I have known — a man who takes me or who I am and the royal pain in the arse I can be and loves me anyway, even when I accidentally give his snorkel to Goodwill the night before he leaves for a work trip and needs it.

With the recent passage of Prop 8 in California, I am reminded that I am so blessed to be in a union with Homer. I cherish the right to be married and mourn for those for whom that right has been denied. In short, it was and is terribly wrong and an an incredible injustice.

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann put it much more eloquently. It’s a little long, but well worth a watch.
