Swimming with the Fishes

It’s Boo’s last hurrah before Pre-K, so I took the day off for a fun. It’s a Monday in Vegas. What’s a mom to do? Too hot for the park. Back to school shopping is done and the mall’s a madhouse anyway this time of year. We need to get out of the house. Let’s go swimming…with the fishes, or so to speak.
Boo had a recent field trip with the day mommies over to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and they sent home a coupon for a free kid’s admission for the price of an adult ticket. I hadn’t been there for at least three years, so why not?

I think this guy could come in handy for my next woodworking project.
We had a blast. For $16.95 ($13.95 if you’re a local), you get an hour and a half of educational entertainment. Kids four and under are free, so I ended up giving my coupon to a tourist with a large brood. She needed all the help she could get.

Boo was so excited to show me around and was so proud that she could work the audio tour wand all by herself. She hunted down the numbers on the placard and plugged them in perfectly. She worked it better than me. (I kept setting off some sort of alarm because my camera flash was too close to the audio wand.) After nearly 40 audio segments and about 20 exhibits, her brain was full and I needed lunch.
So, for the price of a movie, we got a great morning of entertainment, education, and exercise. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Just a little push. Oh so tempting.
