Update: 13 Things We’re Doing This Summer

Well, it’s been a little more than a month since I posted the 13 things we’re doing this summer. I thought it was time to take stock of what we’ve done and what’s left on the list. So, can I get a drumroll, please?
Uh, can you wait a minute? Doodle’s refusing to fall asleep tonight. I need to go and reassure him that we haven’t run off to Alaska without him (I’m watching Deadliest Catch while blogging).
Okay. I’m back. The screaming has stopped. He must be feeling guilty for head-butting me tonight and giving me a fat lip.
Oops. [Doodle's screaming] I guess the guilt of a 17-month-old is short lived. BBIAM.

Finally. I think we’re in the clear.
Now, where was I? Oh, the update on the stuff that we’re doing this summer.
- Taking the kids on their first camping trips. Haven’t gotten to this one yet. Hmmm. Not a great way to start of a status report, eh?
- Going to the condo in Southern Utah. Check.
- Hanging out with 700 married couples and 75 priests. A weird swinger’s weekend? Nope, wrong cult. This time it’s the WWME International Convention. We came, we dialogued, we sang.

- Taking the kids to a summertime activity at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. Triple check. They’ve been three times this summer so far. We love it there, hot or cold.
- Chaperone one of Boo’s school summertime field trips. Double check. Homer went to the natural history museum and I went to the children’s discovery museum. Loads o’ fun.

- Have a pool party for Boo’s preschool classmates, teachers, and their families. Not yet. This one may be a challenge. We’re running out of available weekends.
- Take the kids to the beach. No beach yet, but we’ve had more than one sandbox cross our path.
- Paint our bedroom. Nope. Still staring at pink corrugated wallpaper every time I walk into the boudoir.
- Take Doodle to a Gymboree class or something else that’s only age-appropriate for him. After the fat (and bloody) lip he gave me tonight, I think we’re going straight to Tae-Kwon-Do.
- Blind the kids with patriotism and homespun fun. Yep. We did the small-town thing in southern Utah. Complete with the local freakshow and tunes over the loo. Heck, the fireworks even caught the meadow on fire.
- Stack some blocks. Still no Legoland. This one’s lookin’ kind of iffy at the moment.
- Take Boo on her first movie “double date.” She made it to Wall-E, which went okay. Her double date was with her uncle and her grandma, sorry LW. Given her reaction, it was probably for the best.
- Spend time with family. When I added that to the list, I had no idea what I was in for. It’s been a heinously rough month. Running off to the condo and even hanging out in the AT&T line for iPhones we weren’t able to buy was a bit of a treat.
Well, seven out of 13 isn’t bad, but with just over a month until Boo starts school we’d better get movin’.
