Decisions, Decisions

From Michael Mina\'s Website

A few weeks ago, Homer renewed our membership to our local National Public Radio affiliate, KNPR. I was worried that we couldn’t afford it this month, but I’m glad he didn’t listen to me for once

You see, because we renewed, our names were put into the drawing for a $500 gift certificate to our choice of some of the best restaurants in the MGM GrandCraftsteak, Nob Hill, Joel Robuchon, L’Atelier de Joel Robuchaud, and Shibuya. Now we have to pick and make our reservation.

Homer wants to get adventurous. I don’t think we have the palates for caviar and foam a la Joel Robuchon. I would hate to spend $250 per person on food that’s, quite frankly, over our heads. But then again, it’s someone else’s money.

I’m inclined to go with Craftsteak (being a Top Chef addict (which I’ve written about before), I’m finding it hard to resist an opportunity to pay homage to the culinary yoda that is Tom Colicchio) or Nob Hill (with a menu promises to transport me out of my desert hot box and into the foggy mystery of my favorite city).

Have you ever dined at any of our options? What did you think? Yes, we can read reviews, but my palate doesn’t compare to fine dining food critics who get off on melon foam and seaweed tempura.

Stay tuned. I’ll update post-dine.
