Mommy Muffins

The preschool had a Mother’s Day breakfast this morning. Boo and I had yummy muffins and fruit (there’s nothing like sitting in one of the smallest chairs in the world and eating baked goods with your knees beneath your chin:). She presented me with her little gift (the keychain she’s holding) and we made a little craft together. It was really sweet.

I headed over to Doodle’s class, which caused him great confusion. I loved the “Hey! Didn’t I just get rid of you?” look he shot me as I loaded him up in his high chair and plopped sliced grapes and strawberries in front of him as he shoved a whole mini-muffin into his mouth. His teachers presented me with a cute handprint mold they made with him. I’m really glad they did it, because I haven’t had time to be as crafty with him as I was with Boo.

Gotta love the Day Mommies – they get me out of the mommy guilt thing almost every time.

Bad Habit Friday V – Self-induced sleep deprivation

Why do I insist on driving myself to exhaustion? I was tired three hours ago and longing for the comfort of my pillow. It’s not as though I have anything pressing I’m dealing with. I’m just checking blog stats as I listen to my clothes dryer buzz in the background. I know I’ll be exhausted in the morning. I know I have a ton of stuff I should do. I know that wearing myself down makes me into a gumpasourous mommy extraordinaire?

Why do I do it? I’m too lazy to go to bed. How sad is that.

Decisions, Decisions

From Michael Mina\'s Website

A few weeks ago, Homer renewed our membership to our local National Public Radio affiliate, KNPR. I was worried that we couldn’t afford it this month, but I’m glad he didn’t listen to me for once

You see, because we renewed, our names were put into the drawing for a $500 gift certificate to our choice of some of the best restaurants in the MGM GrandCraftsteak, Nob Hill, Joel Robuchon, L’Atelier de Joel Robuchaud, and Shibuya. Now we have to pick and make our reservation.

Homer wants to get adventurous. I don’t think we have the palates for caviar and foam a la Joel Robuchon. I would hate to spend $250 per person on food that’s, quite frankly, over our heads. But then again, it’s someone else’s money.

I’m inclined to go with Craftsteak (being a Top Chef addict (which I’ve written about before), I’m finding it hard to resist an opportunity to pay homage to the culinary yoda that is Tom Colicchio) or Nob Hill (with a menu promises to transport me out of my desert hot box and into the foggy mystery of my favorite city).

Have you ever dined at any of our options? What did you think? Yes, we can read reviews, but my palate doesn’t compare to fine dining food critics who get off on melon foam and seaweed tempura.

Stay tuned. I’ll update post-dine.
